Byron Busker turned chart-breaker Tones And I dominates this year’s 2019 ARIA Awards, landing eight nominations off the back of her debut EP The Kids Are Coming.

Tones — real name Toni Watson — is up for Best Female Artist, Breakthrough Artist, Best Pop Release, Best Independent Release, and Best Video and Song of the Year, those latter two both presented by YouTube Music. The mass nominations come after single ‘Dance Monkey’ broke an ARIA record: at 10 weeks and counting, it’s the longest-held #1 for an Australian song.

Other heavy-hitters include The Teskey Brothers and Hilltop Hoods, each landing seven nominations, followed by Thelma Plum and Julia Jacklin, each with six nominations for Better In Blak and Crushing, respectively.

Paul Kelly, Dean Lewis, Amy Shark and Guy Sebastian all have four plus nominations, too, while G Flip, Baker Boy, King Gizzard, Matt Corby and RÜFÜS DU SOL sit sweet at three chances to take home a dangerously sharp award.

The 2019 ARIA Awards will take place Wednesday 27 November, hosted by Guy Sebastian and supported by YouTube Music for the first time. They will be broadcast on Channel 9, and live-streamed on YouTube.

Five awards are publicly voted this year, including Best International Artist, Best Video, and Song Of The Year, the last two both supported by YouTube Music. For the former, you can vote via tweeting using the #ARIAs hashtag followed by the artist’s name (ie. #ARIAsArianaGrande), and the latter two directly by Googling ‘ARIA Vote’.
