Yesterday, streaming service Spotify dropped its annual year in review list of all the tunes we devoured in 2018. Apple has now also released their look back at the past 11 months of content and not only does it show Apple Music’s most-streamed tracks, but also everything else they offer…from podcasts to books and more.

Let’s start off with the the tunes shall we? Despite recently overtaking overall Spotify users in the US, Apple Music remains runner-up here in Australia so going off pure numbers yesterday’s Spotify lists are possibly more reflective of Aussie tastes. Does the differences in rankings between the two give us insight into the cultural distinctions and class structures between users of the two apps though? I don’t know, I’m not a stats nerd!

Whereas Spotify listeners were thirsty as hell for Drake in 2018, Apple reports that Post Malone was the more listened to artist on their service. ‘I Fall Apart’ was the most streamed song overall, followed by local lads 5 Seconds of Summer with their thumping earworm ‘Youngblood’, and then Drake with ‘God’s Plan’.

Despite being released in March 2017, redheaded rapscallion Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) took out Most Streamed Album, with Post Malone’s beerbongs and bentleys just behind and the Hugh Jackman heavy The Greatest Showman Soundtrack in number three.

Cop the full list below and pour some out for the extreme lack of Aussie artists that feature. It’s literally only 5SOS and Amy Shark. What’s wrong with our own music Australia?

We’re not done yet mates, as Apple also dropped the most downloaded apps, games and books in this exhaustive review. There’s no huge surprises amongst the rankings to be honest, with Instagram the most downloaded app (Spotify at number four, lol), Fortnite the most downloaded game and Nine Perfect Strangers from Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty as our fave novel.

It’s the non-fiction list that is most worrying though, with the majority of the most downloaded books self-help and fad diet guides. Also Jordan B. Peterson’s book is number four? For shame Australia, that alt-right piece of shit guy sucks tremendously.

Peruse the final lists below. That’s it. We did it! Thanks Apple, it’s not at all weird that you know all of our secrets.
