HBO has unveiled the first trailer for its new true crime documentary series The Case Against Adnan Syed, which will explore the Baltimore homicide case made famous by the hit podcast Serial.

The four-part documentary series will cover Syed’s arrest and conviction for the 1999 murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee as well as the campaign to exonerate him that was kick-started by the podcast and eventually resulted in a new trial (which is currently ongoing). According to HBO, filmmaker Amy Berg had “exclusive access to Syed, his family and his lawyers”, while the series also boasts a score by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

The Case Against Adnan Syed will air on HBO in the US later this year.
