They recreated the opening credits of an obscure '80s husband/wife detective show. It is perfect.

In June last year, your three boyfriends — Adam Scott of Parks & Recreation, Jon Hamm of Mad Men, and Paul Rudd of in-your-dreams — starred in a ridiculously detailed recreation of the credit sequence from obscure ’80s amateur detective series, Simon & Simon. Just because.

The whole idea had begun as a joke between the Scott and the Hamm, but ramped up after Scott mentioned it at dinner with Nick Weidenfeld — at time the programming director of Adult Swim — who commissioned it immediately. It was dubbed The Greatest Event In Television History, and it screened in June as a 15-minute special, with the sequence itself preceded by a lengthy and dramatic making-of mockumentary.

But as you’ll soon discover, it wasn’t the greatest event in television history at all. Not even fucking close.

“How does an error this egregious happen?” asks Jeff Probst in the follow-up, which screened in America a few hours ago. “I do not know … Tonight, we bring you what we have been absolutely assured is the greatest event in television history: a shot-for-shot recreation of the opening title sequence from the classic ’80s TV show Hart To Hart.

Hart To Hart was another amateur detective series, this time about a husband/wife team. Amy Poehler plays the wife. Adam Scott plays the husband. And the filming didn’t go smoothly. (The title sequence starts at 13:38. But don’t skip ahead.)

The original is below. It is the most astoundingly perfect recreation I have ever seen. Happy Friday.
