You Can Now Play Real Versions Of Some Of The Arcade Games From ‘The Simpsons’

Thank you, internet.

Earlier this week, Reddit went into total meltdown as the site’s admins shut down a popular (and horrific) subforum called ‘Fat People Hate’. As it was exactly what it sounds like, the thread was banned on the grounds that it broke the site’s new anti-harassment policy. But with many seeing it as an infringement of free speech, thousands of angry Redditors threatened to boycott the site and started flooding it with abusive messages about CEO Ellen Pao.

That was the worst of the internet. Now, here’s the best: this week someone with way too much time on their hands called gumpyfunction posted fully-functional versions of three fictional arcade games from The Simpsons on Reddit. “I spent about two years learning how to use game maker studio and these were the results!” they said. “I always wanted to play some of them so I thought I’d just make them myself. Hope you enjoy them.”

I say let’s ban all the subreddits that aren’t about nerdy ’90s nostalgia. Here’s how you’ll be spending the rest of your day:

Larry The Looter

Escape From Grandma’s House

Kevin Costner’s Waterworld

Sadly there’s no Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge or Bonestorm.
