In San Francisco a pot-loving retired NFL player Ricky Williams and Jim McAlpine, the founder of the 420 Games – which is basically the Olympics for stoners – have a dream. This November they’re going to open the first gym where you can get high while you get swole. Patrons of Power Plant Fitness will be able to vape and consume edibles (a fancy way of saying “eat cookies”) while they work out, thanks to California passing laws to legalise recreational marijuana use. However, it’s still illegal even in SF to light up a jazz cigarette in the gym due to anti-smoking laws.

According to their press release, “Power Plant Fitness will be run by Williams and focus on integrative full body and mind training” and their aim is to combat stereotypes of potheads as lazy couch potatoes.

As McAlpine puts it, “people are eager to come away from an era of prohibition and misinformation, into an enlightened time where they can live their lives the way they feel is appropriate, without fear of judgment or even worse, going to jail.” Like the 420 Games, a series of 4.20 mile-runs organised in different cities, it’s about showing that people can be athletic as well as high enough to watch The Matrix again. It would also provide a good way to work off a meal at a stoner diner like D’munchies.
