While You Were Sleeping, Sharknado Got A Follow-Up: Ghost Shark

Veronica Mars: The Books!
After the Kickstarter campaign for a Veronica Mars movie raised over $5 million earlier this year, the man behind the beloved TV show, Rob Thomas, has told Hollywood Reporter there are a couple of books coming, too.
The two novels will pick up where the film — slated for release next year — leaves off, with the first expected to arrive in the first half of 2014. It will revolve around a grown-up Veronica, and all her grown-up friends — and, according to THR, it could serve as a bridge towards a movie sequel.
“I started my career as a novelist,” Thomas said. “Veronica Mars was first imagined as a novel. I’m thrilled that I’m going to get the opportunity to continue telling Veronica Mars stories in a form I’ve loved and missed.”
In related Veronica Mars movie news, Leighton Meester will not feature in the film as gossip queen Carrie Bishop; the character will be played by Andrea Estrella of the band Twin Sister.

Instagram Trailers Look Okay!
Jobs — the upcoming biopic about Steve Jobs, starring Ashton Kutcher — has become the first film to release an Instagram trailer. It’s not the worst thing ever: slow-motion montages, dramatic music, inspiring dialogue and beards, made from 15 seconds’ worth of the films official trailer.
And: it’s embeddable! Double win.
The film comes out August 16 in the States. Or so they say.

Ghost Shark!
By now you can’t have missed the phenomenon that is Sharknado, a ridiculous made-for-TV disaster film about a tornado that lifts man-eating sharks out of the ocean and drops them in L.A. The film aired on the SyFy channel last week and, to the delight of the entire Internet, provided GIFs like this.
While rumours are rife of a sequel, and well-regarded scientific journal The New York Post have helpfully advised everyone that it could actually happen in real life (no, it can’t), SyFy have just released promo for its next B-Movie adventure.
Its name is Ghost Shark, it premieres August 22, and it looks phenomenal.
