Julian Assange Opened For M.I.A:
Days before the release of her new album Matangi, which is streaming in full on YouTube now, M.I.A played a show at Terminal 5 in New York, supported by our very own Julian Assange — who, in yet another attempt to win over the hearts and minds of the youth, was streamed in for ten minutes from London’s Ecuadorian Embassy.
He used the poor Skype connection to praise M.I.A’s activism, and lament the state of an American Government that has left people like Assange, Edward Snowden and Sarah Harrison in exile, and unable to attend important events like M.I.A’s concert at Terminal 5 in New York: “Your government sucks.”
Justin Bieber (Allegedly) Visited A Brothel In Brazil:
Pop quiz! If you were the most famous young pop star in the world and wanted to do it with a lady while on tour in Brazil, would you:
a) Meet a nice person backstage, buy her a drink, and ask her to come back to your hotel
b) Take your buddy to a legal brothel for two hours, before leaving with two ladies
c) Just wait until you get home from tour, you horndog. You’re already warding off rumours that you slept with a Panamian prostitute last week and, if the past few years have taught you anything, it’s that there’s no way you’ll be able to covertly leave a well-known brothel with a trail of security guards while wrapped in a giant white sheet.
The photos — and yes, there are more — made it into the New York Post’s Page 6 over the weekend following a hedonistic few days for the little boy, which eventually had him kicked out of his hotel for “partying, doing drugs and disturbing people”.
Odd Future Made You A Horror Film:
“Tyler, Jasper, Lionel, Taco And Earl Thought Of This At 4 In The Morning Knowing It Would Be One Of The Greatest Movies Of All Time,” reads the description on YouTube, in Tyler’s idiosyncratic sentence case. “A Little Girl Dies By The Stairs In A Hotel And Detective Ray And Tony Has To Find Out Who Did It Before Its Too Late……….”
It revolves around a series of visitations from what is either a very poorly-costumed ghost, or Justin Bieber leaving a Brazilian brothel. It is terrible! Enjoy!
Read Laurie Anderson’s Obituary For Lou Reed:
The open letter was published in The East Hampton Star, a small newspaper from a small town on Long Island which Reed and his wife often visited. It is as filled with love, hope and sadness as you would expect.
To our neighbors:
What a beautiful fall! Everything shimmering and golden and all that incredible soft light. Water surrounding us.
Lou and I have spent a lot of time here in the past few years, and even though we’re city people this is our spiritual home.
Last week I promised Lou to get him out of the hospital and come home to Springs. And we made it!
Lou was a tai chi master and spent his last days here being happy and dazzled by the beauty and power and softness of nature. He died on Sunday morning looking at the trees and doing the famous 21 form of tai chi with just his musician hands moving through the air.
Lou was a prince and a fighter and I know his songs of the pain and beauty in the world will fill many people with the incredible joy he felt for life. Long live the beauty that comes down and through and onto all of us.
