Summer school feels exactly how exercise does: painful, confusing, something you wish would be over as soon as it starts. But of course, it’s very good for you so you have to keep it going.

If you’re enduring summer school right now, you’d know exactly what it’s like. Actually, if you’ve ever watched The Office, you’d have a pretty good idea too.

Here’s your summer school experience as told by The Office.

#1 You Start Off Extremely Motivated To Smash The Course

We all think we’re gonna walk straight into class, pay attention like an angel and get all our assignments done early.

#2 Then Quickly Realise How Much Work Is Involved

The realisation quickly dawns on you just how difficult doing an entire unit in half the time really is. We check our phone approximately every two minutes.

#3 Everything Moves So Quickly

The classes are extremely long and they contain so much information. Can we just… slow down a little?

#4 But Then Someone Else Admits They Also Have No Idea What’s Happening

There’s nothing better than the sweet relief of another person admitting they’re screwed. It’s beautiful :’). You know this person will be your new BFF for the next couple of weeks.

#5 Avoiding Eye Contact When The Tutor Throws To The Class For Answers

I’m sorry, I’m clearly looking down at my book, you can’t pick me.

#6 Thinking It’s All Going Great Until You Check Insta And See Your Friends’ Sick Summer Plans

There’s nothing worse than being stuck in a soul-sucking, air-conditioned classroom when your mates are kicking it on the beach. Just keep studying, you quietly chant to yourself, just keep studying.

#7 And Having To Turn Them Down When They Invite You Out

“I can’t, I have uni,” sounds even more depressing when everyone else is on holidays. Why did you do this to yourself again?

#8 You Honestly Consider Just Dropping Out And Not Coming Back

We all get to the point where we think we may as well just give up and take the unit in the regular semester. But then again, you’ve come so far already, so you may as well finish.

#9 Powering Through And Actually Finishing Your Assignments By The Due Date

You kept going through all the hardship AND you actually got all the work done. Are you a perfect angel? I think you are.

#10 The Sweet, Sweet Bragging Rights At The End

You can let all your uni friends know just how smart you are (not to mention ahead) from completing summer school. Ride this achievement out until well into next semester. You deserve it.
