We’re Looking For A New Weekend Editor!

Junkee Media is hiring a freelance casual Weekend Editor to work across our network of titles. Predominately working on our flagship pop culture title Junkee (hi, that’s us!), you may also be required to work on our music titles FasterLouder and inthemix from time to time.
The job itself will require you to work each Saturday and Sunday to write, edit, publish and share timely content. Our head office is based out of Sydney but you can be based from anywhere in Australia that has a great internet connection.
The ideal candidate will have:
– A passion for all aspects of pop culture including film, TV, politics (yes that counts as pop culture), music, and the internet. The role requires a great deal of initiative and you should be equipped with a broad knowledge and understanding of all these areas.
– A love of Junkee and familiarity with the media in general. We want someone who reads widely and knows the difference between clickable and clickbait; someone who closely follows the news and understands how to add to the conversation rather than the noise.
– Some real-world writing/editing experience – whether that be as a staff member, freelancer or intern. Specifically, we need someone with a proven ability to write smart, funny, and original work quickly. It would also be helpful (but not essential) to have some editing experience.
– Experience with social media and WordPress would also be very handy.
