To celebrate the impending release of Andy Bull’s third album Sea of Approval on July 11, we’re hosting a movie night! Also, Andy Bull will be there to play some songs from his new album! What a fortuitous coincidence!

Andy’s a singer-songwriter based in Sydney who sings lovely songs about growth, change and having Feelings. Here’s his new single, ‘Talk Too Much’:

We’re throwing it at the Golden Age cinema and bar on Commonwealth Street in Surry Hills; it’s a lovely establishment with a nice bar and toasties, which are delicious. The movie on offer is Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, starring Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet and a healthy amount of whimsy. It’s a film that gels nicely with some of the themes that bob up in Sea of Approval, which comedian Tom Ballard says “centres around a dream-like state of consciousness”.

“Andy has recently found himself lucid dreaming and keeping a dream diary to document his adventures. With Sea of Approval, he says, he wanted to represent those dream experiences through sound”, Ballard says in his glowing review, and he does this whole ‘listening to music’ jazz for a living so he should know.

You can buy tickets and get more info here, or scroll down ever-so-slightly and look at the fancy flyer we made. It’s very fetching.
