Whether you’re in a band or just in the audience, dealing with rowdy and obnoxious crowds is part and parcel of the festival experience. But if a punter is going to throw shade at the acts on stage, they better be prepared to have it chucked back — as one Splendour-attendee discovered on the weekend.

During their headlining set at the Amphitheatre on Saturday night, Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme took a break between songs to call out a heckler that caught his attention, in a moment caught on camera by triple j.

“That guy stood up on top of that guy just to give me the finger, but he gave me the wrong fucking finger,” Homme pointed out, as houselights spotlighted the offender.

“Get down, it’s past your fucking bed time son. The goal is to dance with a young lady, not stand on your best friend’s head.”

Watch the whole thing play out below — but hey, at least the dude got off easier than this guy.
