Tony Abbott’s Openly Gay Sister Gave A Fascinating Interview About Politics And Sexuality On SBS’s The Feed
"I'm just a regular lesbian about town."
Christine Forster is a Liberal Councillor for the City of Sydney who is running for an Upper House seat at the upcoming NSW state election. Forster, who is openly gay, announced her engagement to her longtime partner Virginia Edwards in 2013 after divorcing her husband several years earlier. She also happens to be Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s sister, putting her at odds with Abbott’s well-known opposition to legalising same-sex marriage.
Yesterday SBS The Feed reporter and Mardi Gras host Patrick Abboud sat down for a rare in-depth interview with Forster and Edwards, discussing sexuality, family, and reconciling personal ties with political differences.
“I’m just a regular lesbian about town” is a pretty excellent quote, honestly.
