In his time as Immigration Minister Scott Morrison helped implement one of the harshest border protection policies in the world. His treatment of asylum seekers was essentially outside the bounds of international law creating a situation where Australia were free to regularly place refugees in danger, and the system as it stands is now technically classified by the UN as torture.

He has now been re-assigned as the Minister for Social Services — which, to many, seems terrifying in and of itself — and has been criticised this week for strongly coming out against same-sex marriage.

But today, he did the “Wombat Wobble” with a bunch of little kids.

Gaze upon it and let it soothe you. Or, y’know, just deal with whatever confused mixture of emotions crop up from seeing a major cabinet member pretend to be an emu and yell he loves you.
