It was all to promote his cleaning products.

Disney Pixar’s Up tells the heartwarming tale of a lonely and jaded old man fulfilling a promise to his late wife; with an earnest young companion, he travels to South America in his marital home with the help of thousands upon thousands of helium balloons. Now, a Canadian man has just recreated this magical tale.

On Sunday evening he spend $12,000 on helium, fastened 120 balloons to a garden chair, swore incessantly while careening toward the heavens, bailed out with a parachute when they all started to pop, broke his foot upon landing, then swiftly got arrested for criminal mischief — all in service of a line of cleaning products.

Real life is pretty disappointing.

In an interview with the Calgary Herald the guy behind it all, 26-year-old Daniel Boria, claims he was up in the air for 20-30 minutes. “It was insane,” he said. “You’re just by yourself up above the clouds. It was the weirdest, most relaxing and frightening moment at the same time … I was looking up at the balloons popping and looking down at my feet dangling through the clouds and below me I could see 747s landing.”

Though that sounds less whimsical as it does INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS to everyone in said 747s, Boria maintains he “did everything [he] could to make it as safe to the general public as possible”. “I assessed the total risk to reward on my end as well,” he said. “Almost anything you do in the world you’re going to get naysayers and people who don’t agree with what you’re doing, especially if it’s different.”

Boria is currently out on bail. His story’s made the day of nearly every commercial news producer in the world and his company All Clean Natural currently has 92 followers on Facebook. Here’s some closer footage that will both fulfil your surreal Pixar-fuelled fantasies and absolutely convince you to never, ever, ever do this:
