Perfecting the fine art of peddling useless shit to people for no particular reason at all, The Price Is Right has today given a brand-new $2,400 treadmill to a woman in a wheelchair. More specifically, a woman in a wheelchair who also doesn’t have any legs.

It might just be one of the most deliciously awkward moments in television history and, though there was reportedly an enormous silence from the audience that later got edited out, no one in the entire segment said a single thing about it.

After the show aired overnight, viewers unsurprisingly took to Twitter to share their collective disbelief. Some suggested The Price Is Right were insensitive for offering the prize, others blames God for a cruel sense of humour, and many just expressed themselves through that embarrassed little monkey-face emoji.

Alternatively, Danielle Perez — the woman who won the treadmill who is incidentally also a comedian — has totally embraced the incident. On Twitter she’s said all the attention has made her feel like Beyoncé and she’s been “straight popping wheelies all morning”. Perez has been re-tweeting news about herself, setting things straight with news organisations and even replying to comments from viewers. After someone said they’d watched the segment “laughed a little, but then felt bad”, she replied saying “Well I won the treadmill and I laughed A LOT”.

In a statement provided to The Huffington Post this morning, CBS explained, “Every member of The Price Is Right studio audience has a chance to be selected to play. Prizes are determined in advance of the show and are not decided based on the contestants”.

It’s true. Little could be done about all this and it really wasn’t intentional, but oh my god this face is everything:
