The Simpsons has a long history of skewering American presidents and making a very compelling case for Lisa Simpson putting the country on the right track.
Of course Matt Groening has as much access to the internet as anyone, but it still feels strange when The Simpsons is reactive enough to immediately make viral-type videos that comment on current events. In this case, a video of a campaign ad comparing Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump has really hit the mark. The premise: it’s three in the morning and the phone is ringing in the White House. Who do you want to answer that call?
The Trump gear is fantastic (“Make Chris Christie eat a worm just for laughs.”) but even the light teasing of the Clintons is perfection. Bill eagerly reaching for the call from The Situation Room, realising that it’s actually for Hillary, and then Hillary saying sternly: “From now on, it’s always for me” — BELLISSIMO.
