The National have announced their first Australian tour since 2014, locking in a trio of east coast shows for early next year.

Ohio’s noted Sad Guys will make their Australian return on February 21 at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt — the same venue they played in 2014 — before hitting Brisbane’s Riverstage and Melbourne’s Sydney Myer Music Bowl.

The tour will mark the first time in Australia the band play songs from their forthcoming album Sleep Well Beast, which is released on September 8 via Remote Control Records.

The National have already shared three tracks from their seventh LP — ‘The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness’, ‘Guilty Party’ and ‘Carin At The Liqour Store’.

This means you can rule them out for next year’s Laneway tour, which kicks off in early February — see all the headline dates below.
