Here Are The Most Talked About Trailers From San Diego Comic Con This Weekend
One of these trailers is unequivocally, the worst thing I have ever seen.
San Diego Comic Con was quite the scene. Brie Larson was introduced as Marvel’s first ever female title character in Captain Marvel! The excellent cast of Black Panther was announced! Ian McShane doesn’t give a fuck that he spoiled Game of Thrones for you! What a time was had.
We’ve gathered together a few of the trailers that debuted at Comic Con, all of which made a fair amount of noise on social media. If you don’t like movies about superheroes, too bad (they’re not all superhero trailers but you know, most of them are).

Blair Witch
It turns out that The Woods film that director Adam Wingard and writer Simon Barrett (who worked on the very creepy, very good film The Guest) were working on was really a reboot of The Blair Witch Project this whole time! They’re going baaaaack.
–
Wonder Woman
Gal Gadot has left the Fast and the Furious franchise (miss you, Giselle) and is finally taking her whip and leotard to the DC Universe. Is it just me, or has the lead up to this film felt like an eternity? We’ve still got to wait until 2017 to see she and Chris Pine kiss, unfortunately.

King Arthur: The Legend Of The Sword
I really wanted to like this trailer. The idea of a directer like Guy Ritchie — who is renowned for his eccentric take on action — tackling a medieval legend, sounds just crazy enough to work. But this trailer is terrible and me mad for reasons I can’t quite explain? Good to see Jude Law still working, I guess.

Justice League
Ben Affleck is taking time out of his midlife crisis to once again appear as Batman, but by all reports this is a much better film that Batman v. Superman, and also includes Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Ezra Miller as The Flash. This doesn’t look like it’ll be very banter-heavy, but that’s only been a recent requirement of superhero ensemble films so it’s probably okay.
–
KONG: Skull Island
It’s unclear what exactly KONG is about, except for that it includes a lot of shooting in the jungle. Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson seem very concerned, and are wandering around the jungle in tears. John Goodman and Samuel L Jackson are vehemently fighting about something, but it’s unclear what that is. Some soldiers are shooting at Kong. I don’t know who is one whose team.
–
Suicide Squad
Sure it feels like we’ve already seen a million trailers for this bad boy, but this very Margot Robbie-heavy clip seems to have thrilled people at Comic Con. Here it is!
–
Star Trek: Discovery
Although this trailer for the much anticipated Star Trek TV series doesn’t include any actual people, the debut of the new ship U.S.S. Discovery NCC-1031, is still a very impressive show indeed. Now to wait for the Federation uniforms…

Sherlock
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are back and by all accounts, the fourth season of Sherlock will be its darkest and most violent yet. Yay?
