We’ve previously gushed at great length about the annual When You Work At A Museum Dance Off, an amazing competition featuring adorable museum staff shaking their booties in order to show that hey, working in a museum can be pretty darn cool!!

Last year Museums Victoria actually won the competition, defeating Virginia’s Chrysler Museum of Art with an incredible homage to Christopher Walken’s iconic dance from Fatboy Slim’s ‘Weapon of Choice’.

Please watch their winning entry below. Your life will be greatly improved for having done so.

This year it’s fallen to staff at Sydney’s Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences to defend Australia’s crown, with their elaborate take on ‘Another Day of Sun’ from La La Land. They’re going up against Las Vegas’ Mob Museum, Ontario’s Glanmore National Historic Site and Hungary’s Herman Otto Muzeum.

Incidentally, I think La La Land would have been a far better film if the guy at 1:47 had been cast in the Ryan Gosling role, just saying.

Now the bad news: with less than a day until voting closes, the MAAS team are trailing in the polls. At the time of writing they’ve scored a little over 13% of the public vote, putting them well behind both the Americans (41%) and the Hungarians (37%).

But it’s not too late. As far as we’re concerned, it is every patriotic Australian’s responsibility to get our side over the line. If you care at all about this country, do your civic duty and vote now. Then call all your friends and family members and get them to do the same.
