It’s finally happening. Sharks, nature’s greatest predator, have learnt how to walk on land and they’re headed straight for… Adelaide.

This afternoon the South Australian police posted a photo on Facebook of a Port Jackson shark found in a puddle near the town of One Tree Hill, just outside of Adelaide. The shark was barely submerged in a small puddle of water but was somehow still alive. Sadly the shark died soon after being placed in a tank of saltwater by Fauna Rescue SA.

Police don’t know how the shark came to be in the puddle, especially since the nearest ocean is 40 km away, but they explicitly ruled out a Sharkando type event.

“It is believed the shark may have been caught earlier today and dumped, or was kept as a pet but was growing too large for its tank,” the SA cops wrote on Facebook.

It’s definitely the weirdest thing to pop up in One Tree Hill since Chad Michael Murray.

But seriously, it’s a really shit way to treat an animal. Don’t be a jerk and leave a shark to die to a puddle. They are beautiful animals and will eat you.
