Right now, all over this great nation of ours, there are a handful of social media managers having a very bad, no-good Friday. They’re watching the clock. They’re sending out co-workers to expense booze to the company credit card. They’re pleading through a group text to organise elaborate plans with friends to help them unwind. And, you know what, they’ve earned it because over the past eight hours they’ve been forced to deal with you ingenious assholes.
Instigated by posts on Simpsons community pages Four Finger Discount and Compuglobalhypermeganet Australia & New Zealand, a group of the internet’s most wonderful jerks have been trolling the Facebook pages of 7 News all day: 7 News Perth, 7 News Sydney, 7 News Melbourne, 7 News Australia. This has been a co-ordinated and unrelenting attack.

Though it’s not yet clear why 7 News has been the focus of the hit, it only took so long for them to figure it out. Some admins even started playing along with the joke, starting the somewhat dangerous game of responding to potential eyewitness accounts of real-life crimes with pictures from The Simpsons.
