Despite being incredibly famous, Sam Neill deigned to attend the Logies last night (which wasn’t actually that bad — but we’ll get to that later today). While presenting the Most Outstanding Drama award, he also managed to throw a little shade at mining magnate/general rich person Gina Rinehart.

Neill, who starred in Channel Nine’s miniseries about Rinehart and her father Lang Hancock House of Hancock, did some great gear about Gina flying him to the Logies on her private plane (which she had “welded” herself) which actually got some big laughs in a tough room (particularly past 11pm, when seemingly every presenter had to fight to be heard over the low murmur of drunk voices asking where the afterparty was). Gina Rinehart is still in the process of trying to sue Channel Nine over “misrepresenting” her and her family, something that Neill seems to have found particularly thrilling.

“The last thing she said to me as she was putting my 20 pieces of alligator-skin luggage into the hold was: ‘Good luck at the Logies, Sam’,” he said. “Brought a tear to my eye.” Watch the full “shout-out” below.

Tbh, people were just mega excited that he actually showed up.
