If you haven’t seen La La Land yet, what are you even doing with your life? Hollywood’s newest musical is gorgeous and emotional and full of attractive people and will turn even the most bitter, cynical critic into a believer. It’s also probably going to take home a whole buttload of Oscars.

Given the movie’s remarkable success, writer-director Damien Chazelle would be perfectly entitled to take a break – but instead he’s diving straight into his next project, a biopic about astronaut Neil Armstrong starring La La Land leading man Ryan Gosling. Because if you’re going to make a movie about a heroic, handsome, cool-under-pressure space explorer, who the hell else would you cast?

Titled First Man, the film will be based on James Hansen’s 2005 biography of the same name. Oscar-winner Josh Singer, who co-wrote Spotlight, has already completed the script. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the movie will aim to tell the story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, specifically the years 1961 to 1969.”

Apologies to every other movie due out next year, but I think we can safely say that this is going to win all the awards. Better luck next time though.
