Surely it'll at least be better than True Detective season two?

Robert Downey Jr. is coming to HBO. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Downey will become the latest big screen actor to mope around a strip club on the American cable network, with the Iron Man star set to appear in a brand new drama written by True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto. So yeah, this could really go either way.

Details on the deal are still a little on the thin side, although rumours suggest that it could be related to a reboot of landmark courtroom drama Perry Mason. Downey has long been attached to such a project, although it was originally envisioned as a feature film.

While I’m 100 per cent on board with Downey’s involvement, I’m a lot less confident in Pizzolatto – especially after the sad, slow blowjob that was True Detective season two. Will Rust Cohle dialogue really work coming from Tony Stark? Only time, which is a flat circle, will tell.

Meanwhile, HBO execs recently confirmed that a third season of True Detective is unlikely to happen.
