It’s been nearly two years since Adult Swim renewed Rick and Morty for a third season but now the show’s creators have publicly confirmed the release date and dropped a new trailer to get us all excited.

During a livestream hosted by Adult Swim, co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland apologised for the long delays and announced the third season would premiere on July 30. The first episode dropped on April 1, in some kind of weird reverse April Fool’s situation, but we’ve been kept in the dark about the rest of the season until today.

Earlier in the week Harmon refuted suggestions that the delay had been caused by a feud between him and Roiland. “The reason S3 took long is because it took long to write, because it was S3 of a show that we were scared to make worse than S2 or S1,” he said on Twitter.

Adult Swim has also released the trailer for the new season and it is, as expected, absolutely wild. A Mad Max parody, a Dizzee Rascal soundtrack, “Pickle Rick” and a promise that this will be the “darkest year” of Rick and Morty’s adventures.

Hell. Fucking. Yeah.
