Much to our dismay, we’re still not exactly sure when we’ll next get new episodes of Rick and Morty. Co-creator Dan Harmon previously said that the show would return by the end of this year, but it’s already November and we’re yet to have anything confirmed. Whetting our appetites further, Adult Swim recently released a series of suitably strange claymation shorts dubbed Rick and Morty: The Non-Canonical Adventures.

Rather than picking up where the series left off, the 15 to 30 second clips instead pay homage to iconic horror films, including Halloween, The Thing and The Fly, as well as Honey I Shrunk The Kids and the recent sci-fi flick Ex Machina.

The videos were animated by cult British filmmaker Lee Hardcastle, who is known for his incredibly gruesome shorts such as the following, which mashes up Pingu and The Thing. If nothing else, you have to admit, he and Adult Swim make for a pretty good fit.
