Sorry Everyone, It Looks Like We Won’t Get New ‘Rick And Morty’ Until 2019

More proof 2018 will be worse than 2017.

Hey Rick and Morty fans, remember the horrible 18 month wait we were forced to go through between seasons two and three? That sucked, right? Well guess what, it’s about to happen all over again.

In a recent podcast interview Ryan Ridley, a writer on Rick and Morty, said that as far as he was aware no one had even started working on the new season yet. Now that’s a big problem because even though the writers finished the scripts for season three back in November 2016 it took another eight months of production before the full season aired.

“They really take their time,” Ridley said. “I never understood why everybody—all parties, Dan, Justin, and Adult Swim—didn’t get their shit together, and make the show fast. I just don’t get it. It doesn’t make any sense to me. I’m sure they all have their reasons.”

According to Ridley, based on previous production schedules it would pretty surprising if the show’s fourth season managed to air before 2019. That means we’re looking at an even bigger wait than the gap between the second and third seasons.

“I know how long this show takes to write, let alone animate,” he said. “I’d be surprised if there was a fourth season on the air anytime sooner than 2019… late 2019.

“Get your shit together, you guys. Get it all together, and put it in a backpack.”

The only good news is that there probably will be a season four. It’s just going to be a bloody long time before we see it.
