If you’re feeling a little flat this Monday morning, the internet’s eccentric uncle Quentin Tarantino wants to light a fire in your belly. This weekend, Tarantino was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from the American Film Institute on account of having made some of the best goddamn movies of all time, and used his speech to motivate younger artists to be part of something bigger.

“Be part of the conversation,” he said. “Contribute to the conversation of art. Contribute to the conversation on film, on television, on multimedia. Contribute to the conversation on race. Contribute to the conversation on culture. Contribute to the conversation on the world. Contribute to the conversation on politics… We need you.”

Pretty motivating, right? Although the internet has given the false impression that everyone should articulate every undercooked, idiotic half-thought they have, Tarantino’s thesis that everything that you make should be furthering some sort of global conversation, is an interesting one.

Now go out into the world and make something, kid!
