This Pub Thought Advertising A “Frat Party” With Sexist Signs Was A Good Idea

A rival bar came up with their own, way better, signs.

A pub in Perth has apologised for using sexist banners to promote an event called “Frat Fest Weekend” to be held over New Year’s Eve.

The Brass Monkey Hotel was covered in banners featuring offensive messages including “Our couch pulls out but we don’t”, “You teach her morals we’ll teach her oral” and “Drop your freshmen daughter off here”.

The venue was slammed on Facebook, with one local writing “It’s 2016, rape culture, sexism and domestic violence are at an all time high and you guys think it’s appropriate to promote all of this?”.

Yesterday the pub issued an apology, saying: “The team meant no offence or harm to anyone by the messages written on these banners and can see how they are inappropriate. These banners have now been taken down and will not be put up again.”

It’s hard to see how the people behind the banners “meant no offence” since they are… pretty bloody offensive, but at least they responded to widespread community condemnation.

Before the apology was issued another Perth bar decided to throw some shade at the Brass Monkey.

The Mechanics’ Institute Small Bar hung up their own banner that read “Women are amazing”.

Much, much better.
