Please Enjoy Watching This Cat That Ran Down The Field At An NRL Game Yesterday
GOOD MORNING.
Dogs running around on sports fields is arguably the greatest YouTube genre there is, but there aren’t many videos of cats doing the same thing. Arguably, this is because dogs — which are great and fun — are inherently better than cats, but that’s a discussion for another time.
What really matters is that, finally, a cat willing to brave a sports field to the delight of all has emerged — in Australia, no less. Yesterday an NRL match between the Cronulla Sharks and my beloved, forever struggling Penrith Panthers was briefly interrupted after a black cat went streaking down the sideline as commentator Brad Fittler yelled in incoherent delight.
Yep, it’s a black cat on the field at a @PenrithPanthers game… #NRL #NRLPanthersSharks pic.twitter.com/IaiaSENiFr

An on-site photographer also managed to snap this amazing photo of the cat, which it will presumably use when it releases its own range of merchandise a la Jarryd Hayne.
Best. Cat Photo. Ever. #NRL pic.twitter.com/qTe6zEkOzP

At time of publication, the Panthers are in negotiations to sign the cat as a winger.
