Nikki Webster Just Gave ‘Strawberry Kisses’ The Reboot Video You Didn’t Ask For

See you at the 2017 ARIAs, Nikki!

Nikki Webster was 13-years-old when she parlayed Sydney Olympics fame into ‘Strawberry Kisses’, a single that went platinum, sat at #2 on the Australian charts for seven weeks and saw our teenage pop princess rock this iconic ‘fit on the ARIAs red carpet.

Now a decade and a half later, a 29-year-old (!) Webster has given her breakthrough track a reboot. The 2017 version of ‘Strawberry Kisses’ is basically the same as it was in 2001, only with the addition of a rap verse about “ignoring the haters” from weatherman-turned-MC Sam Mac.

A very big budget video clip, filmed on Bondi Beach, premiered on Weekend Sunrise yesterday:

The ‘Strawberry Kisses’ reboot is for a good cause, which I think means you can’t make fun of it too much – according to Sunrise the song has “raised thousands” in sales for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

If only Nikki brought that sparkly, pink two-piece back with the reboot. :(
