Nick Cave, Katy Perry, And Tyler The Creator All Made Covers Of The 1892 Song, ‘Daisy Bell’

It's for famed artist Mark Ryden's new project, and it's great music to get murdered to.

Mark Ryden — the famed artist renowned for his creepy illustrations of kids with Christina Ricci eyes — has a new exhibit currently showing in Los Angeles named The Gay ’90s, which I don’t think is about N*Sync, but who knows?

As a companion piece to his art show, Ryden put together an album titled The Gay Nineties Old Tyme Music: Daisy Bell, for which he recruited a range of contemporary musicians, including Nick Cave and Katy Perry, to each provide a cover of the 1892 standard, ‘Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built For Two)’ (apparently, the first song ever sung by a computer!). He then matched them with creepy accompanying visuals, ’cause that’s what he does.

Each performer offers their own unique take on the tune, but it’s generally all great music to get murdered to, I guess.

Nick Cave gets tinkly:

Katy Perry just discovered Neutral Milk Hotel:

Tyler The Creator isn’t taking this seriously:

Kirk Hammett (Metallica) isn’t big on vocals:

Danny Elfman understands crackles, probably loves BioShock:

Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo, Rugrats) just wants to give you nightmares:

Well, that wasn’t weird at all.
