A TV news anchor has shut down a racist viewer live on air, and the footage is one of the most satisfying things I’ve seen in a while.

Sharon Reed is an anchor for CBS Atlanta, and on Tuesday she was speaking on the air about the city’s mayoral election with her colleagues Ben Swann and Alicia Roberts. Specifically, they were discussing the part that race was playing in the contest between Councilwoman Keisha Lance Bottoms, who is black, and Councilwoman Mary Norwood, who is white.

Unfortunately, the conversation left viewer Kathy Rae fuming, so much so that she felt compelled to send Reed an email saying she ought to be fired for making “race baiting comments”. She also called the journalist the N-word, although she somehow managed to misspell it. Twice.

(Funny how there’s often a link between racism and general stupidity, hey).

Rather than taking the abuse lying down, Reed decided to call Kathy Rae out live on the air, delivering a scathing response right down the barrel of the camera.

For what it’s worth, Lance Bottoms ended up winning the election. I’m sure Kathy Rae was just thrilled.
