Actor Jake Johnson has made a name for himself playing the loveable, bearded doofus Nick Miller on the excellent comedy New Girl. However, he also does other stuff! Johnson recently appeared (as a loveable bearded doofus) in Jurassic World, he’s slated for the upcoming The Mummy reboot that nobody asked for, now this new film Win It All.

Judging from the trailer that just came out, the film seems to follow Nick Miller having a side adventure about having a gambling problem. Johnson’s character, Eddie, is a small-time gambler who gets in way over his head when he’s asked to babysit a giant bag of money. The film also co-stars comedy heavy hitters Keegan-Michael Key and Joe Lo Truglio, and features a romance with Mexican actress Aislinn Derbez.

Win It All is Johnson’s latest collaboration with director Joe Swanberg, following other projects such as the films Drinking Buddies and Digging for Fire.

It might be wish-fulfilment on my part to constantly believe every Jake Johnson vehicle is actually a secret New Girl spinoff, but I feel like Nick Miller is such a strong character that it’s an inevitable comparison. He’s like a strong cheese that overpowers any meal he’s in.

Win It All debuts at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, and is on Netflix in April
