The last trailer for Deadpool 2 was just a two-minute parody of ’80s TV show The Joy Of Painting, so we were expecting something a little meatier from the next one. And folks, we weren’t let down.

The new trailer for the superhero sequel is here and it’s come packing our newest villain: Cable. Played by Josh Brolin, the mutant, time-travelling soldier was introduced in a dark, moody sequence that was quickly interrupted by the fourth-wall-breaking Deadpool:

“Wait, no, stop! What, in the actual ass? Dale! Why aren’t the visual effects done? It’s a metal arm! It’s not like we are trying to remove a moustache!”

It’s a very unsubtle dig at 2017’s Justice League. When the movie required complicated reshoots, Henry Cavill (who played Superman) couldn’t shave his moustache because he was also filming Mission Impossible. So the filmmakers had to get rid of his moustache later via CGI, and the results were… average.

Marvel give us another little easter egg to feast on: the introduction of what looks like X-Force, the black-ops arm of X-Men. They popped up a lot in the comics with Cable, and there’s one fleeting shot of what could be them in the middle of the trailer.

We do know that 20th Century Fox is planning an X-Force movie for some point, so this could be a clever way to introduce them. See it all here:

Deadpool 2 comes to cinemas May 17.
