Netflix Is Teasing ‘The Keepers’, A Brand New True Crime Series That Sounds Really, Really Grim
People are already calling it the next Making a Murderer.
Good news for all you murder-obsessed weirdos out there! Netflix has just dropped the first dribble of info about its brand new true crime docu-series The Keepers, concerning the 1969 murder of a beloved Baltimore nun and “the horrific secrets and pain that linger nearly five decades after her death.” Prestige TV is so much fun!
The seven-part series will investigate the death of 26-year-old Sister Cathy Cesnik, whose body was found on a garbage dump with her skull caved in. According to The Baltimore Sun, a priest at the school where Cesnik taught English was at one time considered a suspect, while there is also some suggestion of a possible church cover-up relating to allegations of child sex abuse.
Here is the very unsettling poster.
The streaming service will unveil an actual trailer for the series later this week, but people are already hyping it up as a spiritual successor to Making a Murderer. Director Ryan White previously made the marriage equality documentary The Case Against 8, which was excellent but probably not quite as gruesome.
All seven episodes of The Keepers hit Netflix on May 19.
