Did you just have a violent nerdgasm over that headline alone? If not, you should have. Your love of novelty arcade games, science, and dorky British comedy have just collided into a giant interstellar explosion that has left your day careening wildly into procrastination. Embrace it.

To celebrate Record Store Day this Saturday as well as the recent Monty Python live show which played to sold-out stadium crowds in London last year, the iconic comedians have teamed up with the world’s most famous physicist to record a new version of ‘Galaxy Song’. There will only be 1,000 physical copies of the limited-edition 7-inch single, but it’s also available via the iTunes store and in this glorious music video.

AHHHH. I want to adopt them all as my granddads immediately — especially Hawking for this moment he mows down fellow physicist and “pop star of science” Brian Cox.

Eat dirt, pretty boy.

Also, as if that wasn’t enough to thoroughly improve your morning, the song has been used as soundtrack to a specialty game of Asteroids which you can play right now on the Monty Python website.

It’s much like normal Asteroids except Stephen Hawking is your little gun-toting avatar and you can float around the galaxy obliterating the disembodied fiery heads of Michael Palin and Eric Idle. So… it’s obviously much, much better.
