Meet The Victorian Liberal Candidate Who Likes To Spray Hideously Homophobic Shit On Twitter

UPDATE: Aaron Lane has resigned from the Victorian Liberal ballot for the upcoming election.

The Australian reported last night that a Liberal candidate in the upcoming Victorian election, Aaron Lane,  likes to call gay people “faggots” and “homos” on Twitter because Jesus Christ what the fuck is wrong with some people.

The tweets in question, which The Oz reports were sent in 2012 and 2013 when Lane’s Twitter account was closed, provide such thoughtful and not-hideous-at-all insights into The Gays like: “the problem is (IMO) many homos make their sexuality a defining aspect of their being”, and “shirts are for faggots”.

Sick one, legend.

Since The Oz broke the story last night, Liberal State Director Damien Mantach released a statement saying that the party found the comments “inappropriate and offensive” and he would be meeting with Lane today.

Lane, a former Victorian Young Liberals president and ‘Research Fellow’ for right-wing think-tank and notorious gronk-factory the Institute of Public Affairs, was preselected second on the Victorian Liberals’ ticket for Western Victoria ahead of the upcoming state election in November.

To be fair though, it’s not like the Young Liberals have members known for making sexist and homophobic remarks in the past.
