Star of The Bachelor Matty J has taken a break from cavorting with his harem on national television to throw his support behind Australia’s LGBTIQ+ community, via an Instagram post encouraging his followers to vote yes in the upcoming postal survey on marriage equality.

“Not every Australian will get the chance to date 22 people on national TV,” the reality star wrote on Tuesday night. “But they should all have the opportunity to marry the person they love and be treated equally under the law.”

If you support marriage equality make sure you enrol to vote or update your details by midnight August 24,” he added, before directing his followers to the Australian Electoral Commission website.

The Instagram post has since attracted more than 31,000 likes and hundreds of positive comments.

Meanwhile, series host Osher Gunsberg has also been flying the flag for marriage equality.

500,000 Aussies 18-39 aren’t enrolled to vote” Gunsberg wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. “In a political climate where we often feel useless, here’s a chance to really make a difference.”

If you’re planning on voting in the postal survey on marriage equality, you have until tomorrow evening to make sure all your details are correct. Get on it.
