The godfather of modern animation has a new show in the works at Netflix. On Tuesday, the streaming service announced that Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons and Futurama, was developing a new adult-oriented animated fantasy series titled Disenchantment starring Broad City‘s Abbi Jacobson.

We reached out to Groening for comment, but didn’t have much luck:

According to Netflix, the series will take place in “the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland” and will follow the misadventures of Jacobson’s hard-drinking Princess Bean – making this the first Groening show to feature a primary protagonist who is a woman.

Jacobson will be joined by Nat Faxon (Friends From College) and Eric Andre (The Eric Andre Show), who’ll voice a feisty elf and a demon, respectively. The cast will also include a number of Futurama regulars, including John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche and Tress MacNeille.

“Ultimately,” said Groening in a statement, “Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”

Netflix has commissioned two ten-episode seasons of Disenchantment, the first of which will hit the virtual airwaves in 2018.
