It’s been a bloody long time coming, but marriage equality is finally law. And to mark the occasion, the Birth, Death and Marriage registries in New South Wales and Victoria are staying open this weekend specifically so queer couples can register their intent to tie the knot. Go you crazy kids, go!

The registries are usually only open on the weekend to conduct civil wedding ceremonies. But in a delightful nod to the historic occasion, staff will also be on hand to interview any same-sex couples that wish to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage Form.

The Sydney and Parramatta offices are open on Saturday from 9am to 3pm, so there’s still time to head down and officially register your love. In Victoria, meanwhile, staff from the registry office have set up at Melbourne’s gorgeous Old Treasury Building, and will be taking forms from 9am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

All that happy couples need to bring with them is either their passport or their original birth certificate and photo ID.

If you have any questions, you can contact the Birth, Deaths and Marriage registries at their NSW office on 13 77 88, or the Victorian office on 1300 369 367.
