Mahershala Ali Could Be In ‘True Detective’ And I Am Suddenly Deeply Invested In That Show
Well this is one way to get people back on board.
The internet’s current favourite person Mahershala Ali is reportedly in talks to star in the third season of True Detective. In related news, I suddenly care about True Detective again. How good is True Detective you guys?
The HBO crime drama didn’t exactly set the world on fire with its second season, on account of how bad and terrible it was. In fact, it was so awful that at one point it looked like a third season wasn’t even going to happen. It truly was the Colin Farrell’s mustache of television program.
Still, if anybody was going to get people watching it again, it was probably Mahershala Ali.
According to Variety, discussions are currently underway with the Oscar-winning actor, who is best known for his work in Moonlight, Luke Cage and this truly phenomenal GQ photo shoot. That said, the publication stresses that nothing has been finalised as of yet, and I think I speak for everyone when I say get your shit together HBO. Give him all of the money if you have to. Just get it done.
Me: True Detective season 2 was not good, I don’t need a season 3.

Series creator Nic Pizzolatto reportedly began writing the show’s third season earlier in the year. This time out the network has stuck him with a collaborator, in Deadwood creator David Milch – because if Taylor Kitsch’s glum blow job face taught us anything, it’s that in some cases there really is such a thing as too much creative freedom.
