Having landed on our shores earlier this week for their highly-anticipated BIGSOUND performance, Norwegian feminist punk band Sløtface dropped by the triple j studios this morning to give Like A Version a whirl.

Their choice of track? Lorde’s Melodrama pop epic, ‘Supercut’.

You might not think that the bounding pop melodies would slide easily into a rumbling punk number, but Sløtface (pronounced ‘Slutface’) pulled it off with aplomb. Listen to it below.

Lorde herself would be proud of the rework, as she’s a confirmed fan of giving her songs a do-over. Only a couple of weeks ago, she released six new versions of tracks from Melodrama, including ‘Supercut’, ‘Homemade Dynamite’, ‘Hard Feelings/Loveless’, ‘Writer In The Dark’, ‘Sober’ and ‘The Louvre.’

“I really felt like the songs deserved to be pulled apart in a lot of ways,” Lorde said of the decision to rework the songs. “It makes a lot of sense to bring a song back to how we were writing and recording in the early stages.”
