Did you watch Terminator 2 and think to yourself, “Wow, that evil, shape-shifting guy seems great, perhaps one day I’ll be able to make my own assassin-cyborg.”

If you answered yes to that question, then A) please stay away from society at large and B) you might be interested in acquiring an industrial quantity of gallium, which we’ve been having a lot of fun with today.

So What Is Gallium Anyway?

Gallium is a metal used predominantly in electronics. The almost magical substance melts at room temperature, so if you hold it in your hand for long enough, you’ll have a nice drop of liquid metal to impress your friends and coworkers with. Remember when someone invented a magic water repellent spray and it freaked us out? Well, this is kinda like that time, but even better!

Some questions to consider:

Where can you but it? On the internet (derp).

Does holding it in your hand give you metal poisoning? Probably.

Do its invisible fumes infect your lungs causing early-onset carcinoma? Almost certainly!

Is playing with this potentially deadly substance a great party trick? Absolutely.
