A US Senator’s ‘Let It Go’ Ringtone Interrupted A Very Important-Seeming Hearing About Tariffs And Whatnot
It was Obama's fault, probably.
Idina Menzel’s earworm hit ‘Let It Go’ is a song suited to a fairly narrow range of circumstances, most of which involve the movie Frozen, children’s birthday parties, exhausted parents in pure agony, or some combination thereof. A US Senate Finance Committee hearing into trade tariffs is not typically listed in that category, although given how everyone reacted when a Senator’s phone started playing the chorus, it probably should be.
The offender in question is 78-year-old Republican Senator Pat Roberts of Kansas, a pro-life, anti-marriage equality politician who has been in Congress since 1997 and seems a very unlikely sort of dude to have ‘Let It Go’ as a ringtone. True to form, he turned it into a lukewarm swipe at Barack Obama, because 78-year-old conservative politicians can and will ruin everything, Frozen included.
Somebody had to tell the Obama Administration to “Let it go.” #forthegrandkids

It’s no Kevin Rudd picking his ear and eating it on camera, but it’s better than nothing.
