Over the past few years, Girls creator and Extremely Problematic Fave Lena Dunham has been sorry for many, many things. The lack of diversity on her show! That time she compared Bill Cosby’s alleged crimes to the Holocaust! Racially charged comments about Odell Beckham Jr! Saying she wished she’d had an abortion! She’s got it down to such an art, that she once wrote a full article about her “apology addiction”.

Sadly, it’s showing no signs of slowing down. This week Dunham’s been rightfully cornered into apologising for remarks she made about her former colleague Murray Miller. After actress Aurora Perrineau filed rape charged against Miller, Dunham and her Girls collaborator Jenni Konner came forward with a statement of support for the accused. Citing “insider knowledge”, the pair publicly claimed Miller was innocent and Perrineau was “one of the 3 percent of assault cases that are misreported”.

Within 24 hours, Dunham had walked this back. After many people pointed out the hypocrisy of her defence — she’s long been a fervent supporter of survivors of sexual assault — Dunham said she “now understands that it was absolutely the wrong time to come forward with such a statement and I am so sorry.”

“We regret this decision with every fibre of our being,” she wrote on Twitter. “Every woman who comes forward deserves to be heard, fully and completely, and our relationship to the accused should not be part of the calculation anyone makes when examining her case.”

It’s a familiar sight for many who have followed her work: something dumb and hugely offensive happens, Dunham apologies and pledges to think more about her actions in the future, the exact same thing happens in six months, ad infinitum.

Now, two Australians are parodying the whole dispiriting process on Twitter. Jess Wheeler (who also manages the account Aus Gov Just Googled) and Liv Croagh have set up Lena Dunham Apologizes: an account that’s bound to overlap with reality in no time.

Though it was only set up a couple of days ago, it’s really pumping them out and each is more cringe-worthy than the last.

Follow them here if you’d like more offensive cringe in your timeline (I don’t know why you’d want this, but go nuts!).
