Kim Kardashian Tells Ellen That The Paris Robbery Made Her A “Better Person”

Kim was in tears for most of the interview.

In October last year, Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint by a small group of professional criminals in Paris.

Since then she has been uncharacteristically restrained (by Kardashian standards) in both her social media presence and public appearances, only commenting on the incident through special episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

That is, until now. Last night a very candid Kim appeared on The Ellen Show, which has historically been a ‘safe’ talk show for the Kardashians, and where Khloé first appeared to comment on the robbery. It was really sad!

“I don’t think everyone understands how horrific that experience was for you,” Ellen began, presumably referring to the barrage of sadistic internet glee that spewed forth after the robbery. “I know this sounds crazy but I know that was meant to happen to me,” Kim says, through tears. “I’m such a different person.”

Kim explained that the experience has made her less materialistic and that she’s glad that her kids “are getting this me”. “I just don’t care about that stuff anymore… I don’t care to show off the way I used to,” she said, as the audience applauded.

Kim was trying to hold back tears for most of the segment, and at one point was applauded by the audience for saying that she was grateful because the robbery had “taught” her things. It’s kind of a bummer that Kim’s trauma is even considered by her as a necessary learning experience in humility, but that’s the narrative for this thing I guess.

If you’ve seen the Paris episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the details revealed about the robbery won’t be new, except for the fact that Kim now knows that the thieves were “following me for two years”.

When Ellen asks her if she thought she was going to die (okay Ellen) Kim starts to cry again, but tempers it with the fact that she knows that it could have been “much worse” and assures everyone that she’s “still grateful”. Because when you’re Kim Kardashian, even when a terrible thing happens to you, you have to treat it like your own comeuppance because the vast majority of the public does. Oh, man.

If you need a bit of a palate cleanser, please enjoy Kim talking about Kanye’s upcoming 40th (!!!) and her “twin personality” baby Saint. “North just beats him up all day long,” she says. “She’s just awful.”

Cute!
