One kick to the balls and he's outta there.

Now, I fully understand that professional wrestling is less of a contact sport than your little sister’s social netball comp but, in an attempt to give this moment the respect and admiration it deserves, I’m gonna go ahead and pretend otherwise.

It’d be no fun to talk about how soon-to-be retired Daily Show host Jon Stewart today showed what a good sport he is by guest starring on an episode of WWE’s Raw wrestling show. Instead, we get to say this: today, soon-to-be retired Daily Show host Jon Stewart took on ‘roided up zebra man Seth Rollins with five minutes of straight smack talk, squarely kicked him in the balls, and ran away.

AWWWWWW, SHIT YEAH.

If you’d like some context to this utterly sublime moment — you big killjoy, you — it’s probably important to know that this comes after a week or so of solid ribbing between the unlikely pair.

Late last month Rollins came out of nowhere and celebrated the announcement that Stewart was leaving The Daily Show — “[I, a person who looks like a genetic mutation between a death eater, a human man and a centaur, could] make that thing actually watchable,” he said.

Stewart then responded with a personal message on Youtube, and the wrestler quickly challenged him to take it up in the ring. Then, three days ago Rollins hijacked a segment on The Daily Show where they had an on-air screaming match and arranged an official showdown.

Though Stewart hasn’t yet announced the date of his final show, all this seems like a promising sign of things to come. Maybe this will be the first in a broader ball-busting series that provides closure with all the frustrating media commentators and politicians he’s fought against over his 16 years on air. Maybe Bill O’Reilly getting a well-deserved nut punch is a little too good to be true.

Either way, here’s to the next few months of watching your favourite 52-year-old badass go out in a blaze of glory.
