Despite your persisting idea that all the entertainment industry’s best people just hang out together at some exclusive party 24/7, Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer somehow only met for the first time last month. After Lawrence got in touch with Schumer to say how much she enjoyed Trainwreck, the pair soon shared pictures of themselves riding jetskis and making human pyramids together, and the internet lost its collective mind at the promise of this new friendship.

Now, they’ve exceeded all expectations as Jennifer Lawrence has let it slip to the New York Times that she’s working on a new movie with Schumer — one that they’re not only writing together, but also co-starring in as sisters.

“It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now,” Lawrence said. “Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing Trainwreck.”

This is good news for a number of reasons. First, it’s proof that Schumer’s still interested in taking her comedy to the big screen after her first feature film this year. Second, it’ll be the first major writing credit for Lawrence, whose off-screen humour has been one of the most enduring aspects of her celebrity. Third, it’s an exciting development for what could be an iconic comedy team akin to Amy Poehler and Tina Fey — in fact, those two are starring in their own comedy about sisters later this year.

In the absence of any solid details about the film’s production, distribution or title, here’s a video from Schumer’s Instagram just six weeks ago where she gets adorably excited about Lawrence merely mentioning her name:
